WORLD BOOK DAY SHORT STORIES COMPETITION

INSTRUCTIONS

To write a story with 1000-1200 words, using the opening detailed below. 

No changes to the order are permitted.

This must be done on a Word document and e mailed to ridgewoodlibrarydickson@googlemail.com by no later than 4 November 2008.  Please ensure you write your Name and Form and check the number of words.

Twenty winners, from all schools entered, will be chosen and published in a final anthology for World Book Day - 5 March 2009.

Poster competition

Design a poster to advertise your school library to new Ridgewood pupils.

Include as much information as you can and illustrate it.  You can use a computer or draw it yourself.

There will be a prize for the best one!

o  what you can do in the library

o  what kind of things you can loan

o  how many computers we have

o  why you think they should join the library

The tree in the library looks great.  You all made fantastic leaves!

It would appear the Jacqueline Wilson is the No. 1 girlie book author.

The boys like Sports, Horror and Thrillers.

2007 WINNER -The winner of the fourth Doncaster Book Award was Derek Landy's Skulduggery Pleasant. Skulduggery's win was announced to an enthusiastic crowd at the Civic Theatre at the end of the final event on Friday 14th March 2008.
